BWC Update - Paisley Canal
| #1562 | Posted on: 04 March 2026 at 19:08 by Andrew Cripps | Type: Public |
Regarded by many as one of the most sought after lines in Scotland for loco hauled travel, and certainly for those that record where they have travelled by Class 37, we are delighted to confirm operational arrangments are in place to cover the Paisley Canal line during BWC 4.
This requires an electrical isolation to the overheads to be put in place, which our friends at Network Rail are arranging. We are so grateful for all the arrangements that have been made to facilitate this.
We will cover this line on the Sunday after the last passenger train has cleared the line, so we are currently shuffling the sequence of routes we cover over the three days to ensure we can deliver this component. Again, we could not ask for better support from Network Rail both in Scotland and in the planning team in Milton Keynes for their significant support in this very complex project.
We expect there to be an opportunity to take photographs whilst the train reverses.
If you wish to join us, tickets are available via the Fixtures Tab.
BWC4 - Day 1 Update
| #1561 | Posted on: 04 March 2026 at 11:35 by Andrew Cripps | Type: Public |
Many of you are aware that the beautiful line to Stranraer passing Ailsa Craig has a restriction in place that prohibits the use of Class 37s with roof-mounted horns. Due to exceptional support from our friends at Network Rail, GB Railfreight and RailTech Solutions, a temporary certificate will be in place with a few speed restrictions here and there. We are very grateful for the collaborative approach of our industry partners to help us with our charity event.
A few tickets still remain for BWC 4 and are available via the Fixtures Tab. See you all in 2 weeks!

We are well over the minimum number now so there is no reason to think that it will not take place, In fact, NOT MANY PLACES ARE LEFT TO BOOK NOW.
Spaces have also become available on the 10.30 visit to WHITESTONE LAKE RAILWAY in Herefordshire on Sat 7 March and the afternoon APEDALE RAILWAY railtour on Sun 15 March. This is likely to be the one and only chance to do the new Museum Lines there.
