Rail Map Online - interactive maps of past & present railways
Open Train Times - similar to Realtime Trains, but check out the live track diagrams
Network Rail : Sectional Appendix, and PONs / Sectional Appendix updates.
RailCam UK - Live cameras all over the country, live signalling diagrams, TOPS / TRUST reports and more. A subscription is required to allow access to a lot of the features which the site offers - well worth it.
The New Adlestrop Railway Atlas is an excellent historical atlas of Britain's railways showing lines and stations currently open, together with those that have closed.

Realtime Trains - live passenger and freight train running information
Open Train Times - similar to Realtime Trains, but has a useful search facility
Network Rail : Electronic national rail timetable - a long-term timetable for planners covering services on the national network.
Network Rail : Working timetable - shows all movements on the rail network including freight trains and ecs movements.
National Rail Journey Planner
This includes information on accessibility of the stations we call at and the facilities provided.

Other societies

Cardiff & Avonside Railway Society - formed with the aim of enabling railway enthusiasts in the south Wales and Avonside areas to visit places of railway interest.

Railway Codes and other data - an excellent site giving ELRs and mileages, TIPLOC and STANOX codes, and much more.
PlumbLoco - Goeff Plumb's Railway Photos. Geoff is the official Branch Line Society's photographer, and many of his photos taken on Society rail tours can be found here.
 
Railway Ramblers - aims to discover, explore and document disused railway lines, and to encourage interest in the walking and conservation of disused railway lines.
Gensheet includes the very useful Yahoo e-mail discussion group covering advance notice of interesting diversions and general freight line and 'rare track' gen.
The Inter City Railway Society produces a glossy magazine and quality spotting books. They organise the occasional members only visits to railway facilities.
The Railcard guide to 18 ways to get cheap train tickets, including getting the most out of your railcard, split ticketing, finding promotions and booking in advance.
Córas Iompair Éireann now has a comprehensive searchable public website of its historical records, including Irish Railway Companies genealogy, maps and other transport collections.
