The Braunschweig & Hannover Explorer - Saturday 13th June 2026 to Monday 15th June 2026

Progress on this Branch Line Society European Railtour has now reached the point where we feel we can provide dates and some provisional information.

The tours are NOT guaranteed to run - there is plenty of work to do yet, but we know many people require advance notification as early as possible for planning purposes. If you do choose to book any advance travel please ensure it is fully cancellable.

We expect to spend the first day exploring the VPS steelworks railways south west of Braunschweig. Loco hauled top and tail subject to final prices received. Possibility of track never done before.

Day 2 will be a loco hauled tour of the Braunschweig and Hannover areas including Hannover Docks and some branches in between. An MY loco and (possibly) class 228 may feature, depending on availability.

Day 3 will be a morning tour (possibly loco hauled) to a freight line south of Braunschweig with an afternoon visit to a Peat Railway including charter train to cover as much of the network as possible.
