For over 50 years, Pecorama has been one of East Devon’s leading tourist attractions, set high on the hillside above the picturesque fishing village of Beer. It has provided visitors with a great day out year after year, with families enjoying beautiful themed gardens with stunning sea views; home-made food in their restaurant, and of course having rides on their award-winning Beer Heights Light Railway where a fleet of miniature steam locomotives have pulled passenger- carrying trains on a mile long route through the grounds, over bridges, through steep-sided cuttings and a long, dark tunnel! Model railway enthusiasts will know the Company is a brand leader in the making of model railway track, and superbly detailed layouts are on display in the Model Railway Exhibition next to their model shop.
Unfortunately due to ongoing difficult trading conditions in a challenging economic climate, it was annouced in November 2025 that the whole site would close for the 2026 season whilst a review of the operation would take place. This unfortunately led to a number of staff members leaving the business, however Pecorama are looking forward to bringing visitors back to the site at some point in the future in whatever form the future Pecorama looks like.
Via some excellent contacts that the BLS have with the team at Pecorama, we are pleased to offer this amazing opportunity to have a private day at the site, which will of course include rides on their ‘now closed to the public’ 7.25 inch railway. And most importantly we will be supporting their business as they go through their recovery programme. Your visit will include:
