The Best of Both Worlds - Sunday 10th May 2026

The Branch Line Society is delighted to announce a further unusual event in partnership with its good friends at the Irish Railway Record Society.

Please join us on a fun tram tour exploring the hidden gems of the LUAS Red Line, in the beautiful City of Dublin. With thanks to Transdev Ireland, operators of LUAS, a tram tour has been arranged to traverse the Red Line on Sunday 10th May 2026, covering a variety of non-passenger sections of track & non preferred platforms.

The requested itinerary is:

Red Cow Depot (PU) - Red Cow - Smithfield Crossover (reverse) - Heuston Middle Platform (reverse) - Connolly (reverse) - The Point (reverse) (Use of centre platform requested) - Belgard - Saggart - Saggart Reversing Siding (reverse) - Belgard (reverse) - Tallaght - Tallaght Reversing Siding (reverse) - Belgard (route through middle platform requested) - Red Cow Depot (SD)

As you can see, a number of exceptionally rare track highlights, including:

• Depart and Arrive from Red Cow LUAS Depot


• Smithfield Emergency Crossover


• Heuston Middle Platform


• Connolly to George's Dock direct using the 3rd non-passenger side of the delta junction at Connolly/Busaras


• Use of the non-passenger turnback siding at Saggart and Tallaght


• Middle Platform at Belgard on the Tallaght to Red Cow leg of the tram tour

We have requested a leg stretch and photo stops at Heuston Middle Platform, Connolly, The Point, Saggart Reversing Siding and Tallaght Reversing Siding.

Tour patrons are to meet at Red Cow Depot at 10.00 for a 10.30 start time, with an estimated finish time of around 15.30. A safety briefing will be conducted at the start of the tour. Any late comers will not be allowed to join the tour.

A souvenir map and stock list will be provided to all participants.

FARES:
Standard Fare - FULL	£20.00

Accompanied under 18s benefit from a £10.00 reduction in all fares.

Please note that we are unable to accept bookings from under 18s unless accompanied by an adult.

Children under five years of age may accompany fare-paying adult passengers free of charge. However, children under five years of age who are travelling free may only occupy a seat which is not required by a fare-paying passenger.

Note that tickets are NOT transferable and smoking/vaping is not permitted on the train. The Society will not accept any liability arising from changes imposed by any third parties (either before or on the day) or any consequences of any late running that may occur. Please be cautious about connections and buying advance train tickets. Please note no refunds will be entertained on cancellations within ten days of the fixture. Tickets will be sent out approximately five days before the fixture - this will be an e-ticket.
