Scunthorpe Summer Steeler No. 33 - Monday 31st August 2026

Bookings are not yet open and will be advised via BLN in due course.

With over 100 miles of standard gauge track to choose from; a great way to see an operating steel works and 24-hour industrial railway at close quarters set in 2,800 acres. Our past experience is that a Bank Holiday Monday is a good day to reach the parts that other tours don't reach.

09.30 prompt from the AFR-S platform; due to finish about 18.30. An extensive full day railtour. Max 72, first come first served; supporting the AFR-S volunteers' good work. Includes the usual food and hot drink at lunchtime.

Track queries/specific line requests in advance only please ASAP to Paul Stewart bln.editor@branchline.uk.

We have found that allocating places on the brakevans is very popular, so will continue this - when booking you will be asked to choose to go on the balcony, inside the van, or 'no preference' (with priority to early bookers). We are using the 'joining at' drop down boxes to assist our Bookings team.

A volunteer to write a report for BLN would be appreciated and will result in one of the very limited places on the rear balcony being allocated.
