On Sunday 23rd June, in conjunction with PLEG, 50017 top and tailed with D3002 on three coaches to provide a special charter train on the recently extended Plym Valley Railway. 45 participants enjoyed either one or two return trips from Marsh Mills to Plym Bridge and were able to enter an on-board raffle to win a cab ride. In addition to the run on the ordinary line, unusual track was provided by cab rides in industrial locomotive TH125V, which provided trips on the number 2 siding at Marsh Mills depot, travelling to the headshunt and back. Thanks are due to Bert Ellery for the souvenir tickets, Steve Best of www.uklocos.com for the stockist, Peter Scott for the excellent track map (his copyright is acknowledged) and all staff and volunteers at the Plym Valley Railway for their assistance in making this special event happen - not least for the unusual lines at the depot and the immaculate condition of the Class 50. Participants were also able to enjoy a tour of the sheds and see various projects underway. The total distance was estimated by member Jim Sellens at 20ch (TH125V), 1m 12ch by 50017 and 1m 12ch by 13002 for each run.
